Writer and director Kenya Barris is switching out The Wizard of Oz's Dust Bowl local community and opting for an LGBT concept in his adaptation of the vintage film.

“Now we’re going to turn a mirror on exactly where we’re at ideal now and take disparate characters from the LGBTQ local community, from various cultural communities and socioeconomic communities, and notify a story that demonstrates the world. I think this is the ideal time to do that,” he told Variety.

Past thirty day period, Warner Bros. declared Barris as the adaptation's author and director. Barris's Khalabo Ink Culture is also generating the reimagined classic.
