Less than three weeks out from the midterm elections, over half of election deniers in key races across the country are projected to win their respective contests.

Of the 291 Republican candidates ranked election deniers by the Washington Post, about 189 are favored to win, according to an analysis from Newsweek.

The initial Washington Post assessment concluded that there were 171 GOP election deniers favored to win and 48 locked in tight races. But the Newsweek analysis found that 18 of the Republicans who were locked in tight races were more likely than not to win, hence the larger projection.

MAJORITY OF VOTERS HAVE ELECTION DENIERS ON BALLOT FOR POSITIONS THAT OVERSEE ELECTIONS

Senate, House, governor, attorney general, lieutenant governor, and secretary of state races are all included in the assessment.

Former President Donald Trump had poured fuel on election denialism during the aftermath of the 2020 election, insisting that the election was "stolen" from him. Democrats in Congress have warned in campaigns that Republicans who traffic in election denialism pose a threat to democracy.

In August, President Joe Biden likened MAGA Republicans to fascism. But notably, a slew of strategists in his own party have meddled in multiple GOP primaries to prop up Republican election deniers in the hopes of securing more vulnerable general election opponents in a controversial spoiler strategy.

Nevertheless, a number of midterm election races featuring election deniers include important positions in overseeing elections.

Republicans are projected to win the House, according to both FiveThirtyEight's and RealClearPolitics's political forecasts. Polls show a tight race for control of the evenly divided Senate, but the GOP is projected to prevail by RealClearPolitics and has been given a 45% chance of capturing the upper chamber by FiveThirtyEight.
