SEE IT: Musk suggests AOC is hypocritical after she mocks Twitter changes
Heather Hamilton November 03, 09:42 AM November 03, 09:42 AMRep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) took to Twitter to mock its new CEO Elon Musk over potential changes coming to the social media platform.
Musk discussed revamping the platform’s verification process earlier this week, originally saying users could be charged $20 monthly for their blue check mark. He then teased a new price of $8, noting the need for the platform to generate revenue.
AOC mocked the decision.
"Lmao at a billionaire earnestly trying to sell people on the idea that 'free speech' is actually a $8/mo subscription plan,” AOC tweeted.

Musk then thanked her for her feedback and told her to pay the $8.
Musk also responded by posting a screenshot of a sweatshirt sold by the New York representative for $58, seemingly questioning her decision to charge more for a product.
He was not finished and followed it with a meme.
AOC defended herself, tweeting that she was “proud of this and always will be.”
“My workers are union, make a living wage, have full healthcare, and aren’t subject to racist treatment in their workplaces,” AOC said. “Items are made in the USA. Team AOC honors and respects working people. You should try it sometime instead of union-busting.”
Venture capitalist David Sacks questioned AOC’s rhetoric, asking: “Why aren’t [the New York Times, Washington Post, and the Atlantic] free? Their billionaire owners should stop being greedy and give us those products for free.”
The congresswoman criticized Sacks and responded: "Are you seriously equating an app where people are torrenting racial slurs at an accelerated clip with the New York Times? Also fyi, legacy newspapers actually care about verifying newsworthy sources. And they don’t charge their journalists/creators for 'priority' placement."
“As for billionaire ownership of our news sources, that is a legitimate problem! Market concentration of media is a huge issue,” Ocasio-Cortez continued. “Hope you’re using your power to stop private equity gutting of local newsrooms while supporting nonprofit and co-op modeled news outlets as well.”
In April, Musk teased AOC after she called him a “billionaire with an ego problem.”
"Tired of having to collectively stress about what explosion of hate crimes is happening bc some billionaire with an ego problem unilaterally controls a massive communication platform and skews it because Tucker Carlson or Peter Thiel took him to dinner and made him feel special," she said in a tweet.
In response, Musk told her to "stop hitting on me, I'm really shy." He also included a blushing and smiling emoji.
