Saturday Night Live took a swing at Elon Musk's idea for a content moderation council on Twitter on this week's show.

Cast members Keenan Thompson and Chloe Fineman took on the roles of a fictional two-person council as "the only two Twitter employees who hadn't been laid off," a reference to recent firings from the platform.

Several characters approached the panel to petition to get their accounts back, including those accused of posting sexually explicit content, doxxing other users, and being a bot account. At one point, cast member James Austin Johnson approaches the council while impersonating former President Donald Trump and explains why he would rather be reinstated to Twitter than remain on his own social media platform, Truth Social.

"Excuse me — yes, we've all moved to Truth Social and we love Truth Social. It's very great and in many ways it's also terrible. It's very bad, very, very bad," Johnson said on the NBC show. "It's a little buggy in terms of making the phone screen crack and the automatic draining of the Venmo."

"Anyways, let me back on Twitter. I'll do another covfefe," Johnson went on, referring to a viral tweet Trump sent during his presidency. "I won't do anything bad except maybe coup."

In real life, Trump has claimed he will remain Truth Social.

Musk, who last month completed his $44 billion acquisition of Twitter, said the social media company's planned content moderation council "will include representatives with widely divergent views, which will certainly include the civil rights community and groups who face hate-fueled violence." He also said last week that people who have been deplatformed for violating the rules will not be allowed on for at least a couple of weeks after a "clear process" is established.
