Ian Fleming Publications has commissioned Charlie Higson, the author of the Young Bond series, to write a new James Bond book to celebrate King Charles III's coronation.

The work, titled On His Majesty’s Secret Service, is slated to be published on May 4, two days before the king's coronation.

This latest iteration will see Bond “sent at the last minute to thwart an attempt to disrupt the coronation by the wealthy, eccentric and self-styled Athelstan of Wessex, who is on a deadly mission of his own to teach the United Kingdom a lesson,” according to the publishers.

Readers will have to see if the world-famous spy can take down this "shady" foe and his team of mercenaries, Ian Fleming Publications said.

"When Ian Fleming Publications came to me with the idea of writing an adult Bond story a little more than a month ago, I was thrilled — until I realized it had to be ready for the coronation in May," Higson said.

"Getting it written and turned around in such a short space of time was going to be as tense and heart-pounding as any Bond mission," he added. "Although, of course, nobody would actually be shooting at me."

All royalties from the sale will be donated to the United Kingdom's National Literacy Trust, a charity dedicated to increasing literacy levels and skills of disadvantaged children.
