The Super PAC backing Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) in an expected 2024 bid for the White House will debut its first TV ad on Sunday, taking aim at former President Donald Trump's focus on the Florida governor, rather than his Democratic opponents.

The new ad is launching on Online News 72h Sunday, according to Never Back Down's Communications Director Erin Perrine.

The 30-second ad begins by noting that Trump "is being attacked by a Democrat prosecutor in New York."

It then asks, "Why is he spending millions attacking the Republican governor of Florida?"

Trump has repeatedly criticized DeSantis in posts to his social media platform Truth Social over the last several weeks. Just last week, MAGA Inc., the super PAC supporting Trump's 2024 White House bid, launched its own ad specifically targeting the popular Republican governor.

"DeSantis has his dirty fingers all over senior entitlements, like cutting Medicare, slashing Social Security, even raising our retirement age," the ad said, while showing a man eating chocolate pudding with his fingers. This was a nod to a March article that claimed DeSantis once ate pudding in that manner.

Never Back Down's ad contradicts the claim that DeSantis wants to cut Medicare and Social Security. The Super PAC included a clip of the governor from last month, in which he says, "We're not going to mess with Social Security." It further includes a clip of Trump at the World Economic Forum saying entitlements will be on his agenda "at some point."

However, Trump has recently said that he plans to make no cuts to either Social Security or Medicare.

"Trump should fight Democrats, not lie about Gov. DeSantis," the pro-Desantis ad continued. "What happened to Donald Trump?"

Perrine announced the ad's debut on Twitter on Sunday, saying: "The ad is right: What happened to Donald Trump?"

DeSantis has yet to announce an official bid for the White House in 2024, but he is expected to launch a campaign in the summer months. The Florida governor recently spoke at an event in the key primary state of New Hampshire, where he also visited with supporters.
